Mallow, Common/ Cheeses

Malva neglecta
A small creeping plant with roundish leaves with scalloped edges. The 1/2-3/4" flowers arise from the leaf axils. The 5 notched petals are white or lavender. The fruit is a ring of segments reminiscent of a wheel of cheese; hence the name "Cheeses". Blooms April-October in gardens, waste ground. Native of Europe.
