Prunella vulgaris
A square-stemmed 6-12" plant with smooth-edged, lance-shaped or ovate leaves. The 1/2" violet flowers are in an oblong head at the top of the stem. Both upper and lower lips are broad, the upper arching over the fringed, paler and somewhat drooping lower. The flowers are interspersed with broad, overlapping, hairy, sharp-tipped bracts. Blooms May-October in waste areas, lawns, roadsides.
