Asarum canadense
A low 6-12" plant with ginger flavored rootstocks and a pair of rounded, kidney-shaped 4-8" leaves. The ground level flower springs from the fork between the leaves. The furry, cup-shaped calyx has 3 spreading, reddish-brown lobes. There are no petals. The fruit is a roundish capsule. Blooms April, May in rich woods.
