Geranium maculatum
A finely hairy 1-2' plant. The basal leaves are 5-lobed and coarsely toothed and there are 2 similar stem leaves. The 1" flowers have 5 broad, overlapping, rose-purple petals, and the sepals are sharp-tipped and hairy. The fruit is a 1-1 1/2" central beak, or "cranesbill". Blooms April-June in open woods, shady roadsides.
