|A medium size gilled stalked mushroom found in the spring and early summer, usually on grass or at woods borders. The brown, convex cap has a low hump in the center. The cap may become cracked with age. The cap underside has gills that are close together and are attached to the stalk. The stalk is white and has an evanescent ring near the top. There may be veil remnants on the upper stalk and on the cap margin.
