AUTUMN SLIME MOLD/DOG SICK SLIME MOLD Mucilago crustacean This slime mold appears on damp grass. In its first stage it is creamy yellow but soon turns white. The surface is irregular and looks crystalline. The interior is a mass of tubules and soon turns black with spores.
This species resembles the Scrambled egg slime, Fuligo septica, but the latter lives on rotting wood and lacks the crystalline appearance of Autumn slime mold.
