Anemone quinquefolia
A smooth 4-10" plant with a simple stem. The stalked leaves are 3- to 5-part, each part further divided and coarsely toothed. The single, white 1' flower is on a thin stalk. Petals are absent but there are 5 (4-9) oval, petal-like sepals. There are numerous stamens and pistils. Fruits are hairy seeds. Blooms April, May in moist open woods, clearings.
