Aster, Whorled Wood

Aster acuminatus
A 1-3’ plant with a hairy, sometimes zig-zag stem and alternate, stalkless, sharp-toothed, hairy leaves that are long tipped and taper to the base. Most of the leaves are on the upper stem and often appear whorled. The 1½” flowers have 12-18 narrow, white to purple-tinged rays and a yellow disc that turns purplish with age. Blooms July-October.
